Justin’s Western Shop, founded by Justin and Odessa LaFont, was originally located at the Prewitt Trading Post along historic Route 66 in New Mexico. It first served the local Navajo community, who traded wool, jewelry, and rugs in exchange for food and goods. By the 1950s, as Route 66 grew into a major travel route, the Trading Post evolved into a tourist destination, offering a variety of curio items along with stylish fiesta dresses—each artfully designed by Odessa and expertly sewn by a skilled Navajo seamstress.

As the shop's popularity grew, Justin and Odessa relocated to Albuquerque, NM, opening a new location in the historic Old Town district.

Today, their granddaughter, Madeline, carries on their legacy through her shop, Coral Quail. Many pieces in the store come from the original Western shop’s unsold inventory, alongside a curated collection of vintage clothing, ribbon, and handcrafted items. Madeline also brings her creativity to the shop by upcycling forgotten treasures into something fresh and modern.

Like a New Mexico sunset, Coral Quail is always changing. Stay tuned to see what new finds appear next!
