I recently took a road trip to Colorado. Jeff had to stay home and work at his other job, so I opted for a mommy and son adventure and hit the road with my little photo assistant. On our way home from Denver, I took a detour off the main highway down a two lane country road for a more scenic drive. Searching for a place to picnic, I spotted Castlewood Canyon State Park just off the road. It looked like a perfect spot to take a break and stretch our legs before the long haul to southern New Mexico. There were plenty of hiking trails, a scenic canyon with a babbling stream below, towering pines, and mountains on the horizon. This is Colorado after all.
As we meandered down the path, I was taken by the bounty of wildflowers growing among the tall grasses. I was glad I made the decision to haul my camera along to document our adventure.
Little Dude had a great time exploring,
finding treasures,
and jumping, jumping, jumping.
Of course he’s a natural in front of the camera.
He had a chance to practice his photography skills…
…while I practiced mine.
Our Colorado road trip was exactly what I needed to inspire and reinvigorate my creativity. Sometimes we need to take detour to get to where we need to be.
